University Honors Program
Help Make Honors Opportunities Available to More Students

Donations will provide alternative spring breaks, internships and externships that teach students to lead

The University Honors Program (UHP) is proud to be able to offer some of NIU’s brightest students more than coursework in a classroom setting. Through alternative spring breaks, internships, and externships, Honors students are given opportunities to see the world from different perspectives while honing their leadership skills in the real world.

Through donations, the UHP hopes to make these extra- and co-curricular programs more equitably available across all demographics of students.

 Bianca Spalla, '20,

"The Honors Program has opened many doors for my professional development. I’ve learned how to work in a collaborative setting and develop my interpersonal skills which will help in my future career as a teacher.

In addition, I was able to finance much of my study abroad trip to Toledo, Spain through scholarship support. Over the five weeks, I was able to immerse myself in the culture and enhance my knowledge of the Spanish language.

Honors has been my home away from home. The experiences they have provided me will last a lifetime and I am eternally grateful to the NIU Honors Program for developing me into the person I am today."
