Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies
Engagement is not just what we do - it's who we are

Key Stats:

  • Nonprofits account for 12.4 million jobs, about 14% of private-sector employment, the third-largest employer.
  • There is a significant skill and talent gap in the nonprofit sector
  • The Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies is the only undergraduate nonprofit program at a public university in the state of Illinois.
  • Community Engagement House is a designated floor in Grant Hall established to connect students to the community
  • Hands-on experiences set our students apart and put them on a solid career path

"Being on the 40TUDE Nonprofit team has allowed me to learn things that I wouldn't have inside a textbook. Not only is it fun to be able to apply what I've learned in classes, but it's engaging to see what real nonprofit work is. I think that it has given me problem solving skills to take into a future nonprofit career."

We want to improve equity for under-represented students through financial support, mentoring, and access to experiences.  This support allows students to build their resumes and complete their degrees on time.
