40TUDE
Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic student employment has suffered. Many of our students rely on employment while enrolled to support education costs, living expenses and transportation needs. In response to the pandemic the NIU Foundation, JobsPLUS, the Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies, NIU's Division of Outreach, Engagement and Regional Development and the College of Business established collaborations with the DeKalb County COVID-19 Response Fund Committee, the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, DeKalb County UNITES, and OC Creative to build partnerships which provide students with employment to meet the challenges of the pandemic, build relevant job skills and serve the greater DeKalb County community by launching 40Tude.
Fortitude (n): strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain or adversity with courage.
Small businesses and nonprofits are the heart of our community. These organizations are struggling during the COVID crisis, but they’re not in this alone. 40TUDE Business and 40TUDE Nonprofit are here to help. These collaborations grew out of the needs of our students, local businesses and nonprofits – and they bring together the expertise of NIU faculty and students, local business owners, and experienced marketing and nonprofit professionals.
