Below you will find answers to many common questions about Huskies United 2020.
Why is NIU doing Huskies United?
Beginning at 4:25 p.m. on June 24 and running for 1,895 minutes, Huskies United will focus on moving NIU forward by raising support for the university’s strategic funding priorities including emergency student funds, diversity, equity and inclusion, scholarships, and research, artistry and innovation. Donor support advances these priorities and enables NIU to be an agent for change and an engine for social mobility.
What are Giving Days?
Typically, Giving Days are a twenty-four hour “digital pep rallies” designed to increase donor participation. Giving Days help to capture donor affinity and ignite pride by inspiring constituents to share what they love about NIU!
Why should someone give on this particular day?
While any day is a great day to give back to students, this online giving day is special. Several generous donors have offered up matching and challenge funds for gifts made during this 1,895-minute period, meaning the impact of your gift will be magnified!
Is there a minimum amount someone can donate?
No, gifts of every size will help keep NIU moving forward together.
What are the ways that I can make my donation?
Gift can be made via the Huskies United website at dog.niu.edu. Gifts can also be made over the phone by calling 877-GIV-2-NIU. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept gifts in person at this time.
How do matching gifts and challenges work?
Matching gifts and challenges give opportunities for donors to make their gift go further. You will be able to view all active matching gifts and challenges by visiting: go.niu.edu/HUleaderboard
How can I get involved?
By sharing our social media posts, not only will your friends be able to hear about Huskies United, but they might donate as well! Make sure you use #ForwardTogether and #HuskiesNeverQuit when you share your stories about NIU, so we can see them as well!

Are gifts tax-deductible?
Absolutely! Upon successful completion of your gift, you will receive an email with a receipt for your tax purposes.
What if I don't see the college, department, or program I would like to donate to in the list of participating groups?
Once you’ve clicked on “Give Now,” you will be able to select “Other” and type in where you would like your gift to go to.
Are international donations accepted?
Yes. We accept gifts made internationally via credit cards during Huskies United.
