This year's Giving Day is an opportunity for us to thank you and show you what your support does. With support of donors like you--we've been able to contribute to NIU's investment in our NEW space in the Peters Campus Life Building. With support of donors like you, we were able purchase brand new carpet for the space--literally the ground floor of our service to the campus! This has already had a positive reaction from the students we've always supported, and reminded them that Huskies help Huskies! We are grateful to have had this support, and will continue to invest in impactful initiatives that keep this spirit going, including our ongoing goals:
Your donation will also support:
1) Centering women and gender education, belonging and support: including professional development, engagement, empowerment, and leadership development. Funding will support the annual Cultural Sisterhood Summit, and additional opportunities for students to engage and learn about relevant cultural and gender topics.
2) Development and implementation of programs that center LGBTQ+ campus connection, learning and allyship. We'll first connect with incoming LGBTQ+ NIU students to provide support and resources to navigate campus, and expand the opportunity to all students who connect with us.
At the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, we’re your home away from home—inclusive of gender and sexual identities. We’re committed to helping students find the resources and support to complete their degree at NIU and to cultivating an inclusive and supportive campus community. We celebrate all identities and intersections and collaborate with the Asian American Resource Center, Center for Black Studies, Latino Resource Center, and the Undocumented Student Resource Center.
NIU's GSRC is one of the colleges and universities internationally whose services include a professionally-staffed campus resource center, centering sexual orientation and diverse and underrepresented gender identities (inclusive of women, transgender and non-binary individuals).
