Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion During Thousands Strong

Vision

The office of Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) visualizes a synergistic and inclusive community where all members are respected for their intrinsic dignity.

Mission

In alignment with NIU’s core values, ADEI leads the charge in establishing an equity-minded community that challenges and eliminates exclusionary systems and practices.

NIU values diversity and inclusion in all its forms. Embracing diversity with respect to race, gender, class, ethnicity, physical ability, belief system, age, sexual identities, and national origin expands our world view and deepens our understanding of one another. An inclusive campus enhances the educational experience and makes NIU an ideal place to learn and grow. Our goal is to create an NIU environment where every person feels a sense of belonging.

Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) provides many engaging educational experiences to work towards an inclusive campus where everyone respects the value and dignity of all its members.

Your contribution will support students who work with the following units that comprise ADEI:

We engage students, faculty and staff from a wide range of backgrounds and create a learning environment where experiences are shared, minds are opened, and stereotypes are challenged. This dynamic experience lays the groundwork for supporting and valuing people from all backgrounds.
