At the NIU Institute for the Study of Environment, Sustainability, and Energy, we are dedicated to fostering student success through impactful research, education, and community involvement. Our Environmental Studies bachelor's degree program provides students with a platform to explore solutions to energy demands, analyze the societal impacts of environmental and climatic challenges, and advocate for sustainable policies.
We understand that many of our students face unique challenges, including being the first in their families to pursue higher education or balancing full-time work with their studies. These obstacles can hinder their ability to engage in enriching learning experiences outside the classroom, putting them at a disadvantage upon graduation.
To support these students and ensure they have equal opportunities for success, we aim to alleviate financial barriers that may prevent them from participating in valuable learning opportunities.
