Social Justice Education
NIU is committed to confronting racism and discrimination. We believe that education is one of the most effective ways to build a more equitable and inclusive society. We work towards this by collaborating with the Division of Student Affairs to implement initiatives and programs that align with our designation as a Truth and Racial Healing Transformation Center (TRHTC).
Social Justice Education (SJE) provides the university community with educational experiences to build and sustain an inclusive campus where everyone respects the value and dignity of all Huskies. Our Growing through Inclusive Vulnerability and Empathy (GIVE) Circles provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to engage in that with us.
Social Justice Education works to engage our entire campus in Conversations that Matter! Our educational programs and workshops provide an opportunity for participants to enhance cultural competency, reduce implicit bias, and dismantle systemic barriers to success.
YOU can be a part of building an inclusive campus.
Your donation will help us provide engaging educational experiences aimed at creating an inclusive campus for all current and future Huskies. These funds will help us increase the reach and scale up our programming, as well as provide equitable access for students to engage in meaningful and developmental co-curricular opportunities such as conferences, retreats, and internships.
Through donations, SJE hopes to continue to have Conversations That Matter across campus and the DeKalb community. We appreciate your support of this important and critical work as we build a community where everyone truly belongs.
